Embrace this moment on your journey with 3 ways to thrive during the holidays.
Plan Healthy Distractions Anniversaries, holidays, moments in time when it’s the norm to be with significant others can bring about a sadness or intrusive thoughts of what you currently might not have. Take the time to plan ahead, plan activities that bring you joy with loved ones or for you to do solo. These activities will keep your mind and emotions preoccupied to help you get through difficult days.
Reframe with Your Support System Getting lost in what was, can lead you down a downward spiral. Spending time with your support system- going to restaurants, cooking and having meals together, doing whatever activities you use to do for the holidays- still doing it but instead do them with new people and create new memories- reframing.
Create New Traditions Who said the holidays must be the same they were last year or the year before that?! Be creative, Be different, Step Outside the Box and create a new normal! This can be from simple pleasures like baking or making different meals, enjoying friends and/or family, to something more extravagant like planning trips- short trips/long trips, solo trips, trips with your children, or trips with friends.
