Finding Balance: Being a Woman First, a Parent Second


Being a parent is rewarding, but let's face it, it can be overwhelming at times. You love your children, and you do everything you can to ensure their happiness and well-being. While you are doing everything for them, it's easy to lose sight of the person you were before you became a parent. It's essential to well-being and happiness to remember that you are a whole, unique being, with different needs and wants and that you are a woman first and a parent (and every other role) second.

It is possible to be a great parent while still being your own person, and it starts with prioritizing yourself. As a woman, you take on many roles, some of which may include being a wife, mom, and entrepreneur. However, being a parent is just one part of your identity and it is important to mental health and well-being to remember and prioritize the person you are and sometimes less on the roles you play.


It's easy to get lost in the day-to-day tasks of parenting, but it's essential to have your own goals and ambitions outside of raising your children. Set goals for yourself in areas such as career, education, or hobbies, and make them a priority. Pursuing your goals will give you a sense of purpose and fulfillment, which benefits your children as well.

Having a strong support system is critical when it comes to balancing parenting and maintaining your identity. Remember that making yourself a priority is not selfish, but rather it is necessary to ensure that you are the best parent you can be.

Parenting is an important role, but it's not the only one you have. As a woman, you are a boss, wife, mom, entrepreneur, and individual. Balancing all these roles can be challenging, but it's possible with prioritization, self-care, and support. Remember to pursue your goals and connect with other mothers who share your values.
